Washington, IL

Dick and Deane, originally from Illinois and Tennessee, met in 1954 and got married later that same year. Starting with little, their marriage blossomed with faith, teamwork, and love. Their advice for a lasting marriage? Embrace faith, give 100% to each other, resolve conflicts before bedtime, and never forget to share love with each other and their kids every day.

Bill and Diane’s love story is a sweet one that began with Bill sneaking visits to Diane’s cousin’s house in grade school. Then, as Juniors in high school, Bill convinced Diane to date him, leading to their marriage at the age of 18. From humble beginnings in a small mobile home, to raising three children together, and then overcoming financial struggles, they leaned on each other and their faith in God for strength. Now, after 64 1/2 years of marriage, they cherish their deep friendship, grateful for a life of both hardships and blessings.

Belleville, IL

Mehale and Mary have the most unique love story! Mary traveled to Greece for a wedding in December 1964, where her uncle playfully suggested finding her a Greek husband before she left. Intrigued, Mehale overheard the uncle talking about Mary and decided to meet her. They connected over ice cream, but a miscommunication almost derailed their first meeting with the families. Overcoming this, they eventually agreed to marry, and on July 4th of 1965, they tied the knot! Now, after 58 years, they have three sons, a successful automotive shop, and Mehale, with a big smile, would gladly marry Mary all over again.

Dan and Linda, who met as young teens and married at the ages of 15 and 16, recently celebrated their 60th anniversary! They built a beautiful family with three sons and one daughter, all with names starting with the letter D. Despite facing challenges, including Dan’s diagnosis of dementia in 2017, their enduring love shines through with 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Linda’s advice for a long marriage is to not fight over the small things and to remember to love one another.

Mel and Suzanne, both born in Illinois, crossed paths in Streator. Their love story began when Mel invited Suzanne for coffee. Despite Suzanne having a prior commitment that night, she knew she had found the love of her life. Mel proposed on February 14th, 1955, with a heart-shaped diamond ring, and they married on September 4th, 1955. Throughout their years together, they learned valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of love, compromise, and trust. Today, they are blessed with two sons, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

After Andy’s first marriage in 1940 and Beulah being widowed, they found joy in dancing together at the Moose club, eventually marrying on December 14, 1997. Their shared love for dancing and simply enjoying each other’s company has kept their bond strong, with Andy turning 104 and Beulah 95 this year, celebrating a lifetime of love and companionship.

Bill and Debbie will be celebrating 48 years together in April! They met in Atlanta Georgia at the Hyatt Regency where they both worked. Bill had just came back from traveling the country & Debbie hitched hiked from Illinois and they both needed a job. Bill said he looked across the room and saw Debbie talking with others and having a good time so he asked her out. Now, 48 years later, they still hold hands when together.

Gene and Shirley have been married for an impressive 68 years! These two have not just survived the ups and downs, but their love has grown greater with each year. They say their dedication and commitment to one another is what makes their love story so great.

Bill and Wilma have been married for 66 years! Their secret to a long lasting marriage is to put God first and think of the other person before yourself. Their family shares that Wilma spoils Bill, but Wilma says “it’s just love.”

Tom and Pat got married 36 years ago on July 9, 1988. Their story began at their local church. Pat was the one to ask Tom if he would like to go out to dinner. He accepted, and they were married a year later to the day! Their secret to a happy marriage? Tom says to always be honest with each other and Pat says to have open communication and to always love each other!
