Every September, communities across the country pause to celebrate National Assisted Living Week — a time to honor the residents who make our communities feel like home, the families who trust us to care for their loved ones, and the dedicated team members who bring compassion to work every single day.

At the Villas of Holly Brook, this week is one of our favorite times of year. It’s a chance to slow down, reflect on the friendships and milestones we’ve shared, and celebrate the vibrant lives our residents continue to lead. Each of our 28 communities puts its own spin on the celebration, filling the week with special activities, themed events, and moments of connection.

National Assisted Living Week reminds us that aging is not something to fear or hide from — it’s something to embrace with dignity, joy, and community. It’s an opportunity to:

• Recognize the individuality and life stories of every resident
• Celebrate the caregivers and staff who go above and beyond
• Strengthen the bonds between residents, families, and team members
• Share the positive, active lifestyle that assisted living can offer

Here’s How Our Communities Are Celebrating

Every Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections community is planning something special this year. Take a look at what’s happening near you!

📍 Harrisburg

Harrisburg is kicking off the week with a bang — literally, if you count the plot twists! Monday brings Murder Mystery Monday, where residents will play detective and try to crack the case together. Tuesday, Lady Luck is invited to the party for the Golden Jackpot Casino, complete with games, chips, and plenty of friendly competition. On Wednesday, residents will settle in for a special trip down memory lane as Raymond Gunning joins the community for a heartfelt look back at the past decades. Thursday rolls out the red carpet — literally — for a glamorous Red Carpet Awards Ceremony honoring residents and staff alike. And to close out the week, everyone is invited to a Family and Friends Connection BBQ on Friday, a relaxed evening of good food and great company to celebrate the bonds that make Harrisburg feel like home.

📍 Charleston

Charleston is turning back the clock all week long with a Daily Decade Feature, starting with the swinging 1940s on Sunday. Each day will transport residents to a new era, complete with a themed happy hour drink to match the decade being celebrated. The celebration builds all week to a can’t-miss finale on Saturday with Shine Day, a full day of festivities featuring decades trivia, a resident and staff talent show, a nostalgic slideshow of community memories, and an awards celebration honoring the people who make Charleston shine.

📍 Danville

Danville is inviting residents to Shine Through the Years with a week-long journey through the decades, complete with music, memories, games, food, and plenty of fun — dressing up is encouraged! The celebration kicks off on Sunday with Grandparents Day, featuring a family lunch, a Grandparents Day wind chime craft, and a family movie afternoon with popcorn and candy. Monday transports residents to the 1920s for a Murder Mystery Game complete with dress-up props, followed by a 1950s Ice Cream Social on Tuesday. Wednesday brings groovy 1960s vibes with a tie-dye craft, and Thursday turns up the fun with a 1970s Disco Party and rock painting. The week wraps up Friday with an out-of-this-world 1980s Glo Bingo Party in the Activity Room. It’s a week built around one simple idea: dress up, join the fun, make memories, and shine!
