Fall has arrived, and our communities are glowing with the colors of the season. From hayrides and pumpkin treats to festive outings and Halloween fun, October is always one of our favorite months to gather together. Here’s a look at what’s happening across our Villas of Holly Brook & Reflections locations this month:

Washington AL

October is here at Washington Assisted Living, and we’ve packed the calendar with cozy fall fun, pumpkin treats, and a touch of spooky excitement!

Fall Crafts & Treats – Pumpkin decorating with Katie, no-bake pumpkin cheesecake, creamy pumpkin milkshakes, and even fall-themed canvas painting. Residents will have plenty of chances to get creative (and taste-test, too!).
Outings to Enjoy the Season – Trefzger’s Bakery & Fall Colors Drive for a scenic afternoon, plus a trip to Tanner’s Orchard for apple cider and fall traditions.
Halloween Fun – Friends & Family Trick-or-Treat on October 30th (6:00–7:00 pm). Bring your costumes, candy buckets, and festive spirit!

South Park

South Park residents are embracing the season with a mix of tradition, community, and Halloween fun.

Community Trick-or-Treat – October 24th costumes, candy, and community fun! Residents are excited to join in the Halloween spirit with families and friends.

Resident Halloween Party – October 31th Games, treats, and costumes make this a can’t-miss celebration. Staff will join in on the fun to make it a memorable holiday for all.

Charleston

Charleston is showing off its community pride and festive spirit this October.

EIU Homecoming Parade – October 11th. Keep an eye out for our Villas float as we join the Eastern Illinois University celebration in a parade, with decorations, and lots of smiles.
Trick-or-Treat at the Community – October 31st. Residents and families are welcome to dress up and enjoy treats in the comfort of our own building.

Fox Creek

Fox Creek is going big this October with their Scarecrow Contest!

Scarecrow Contest – Cute, creepy, or clever — show off your creativity with a family-friendly scarecrow along Fox Creek Road.

Free entry (optional Scarecrow Starter-Kit available for $20).
Scarecrows may be placed starting October 1st.
Judging happens on October 10th during Fox Fall Fest, with prizes for Judge’s Choice and Social Media People’s Choice!

Brazil

Brazil has a full October calendar packed with activities, outings, and festive celebrations.

Tai Chi with Dalton Reid – October 1st. A peaceful way to begin the month with gentle exercise and relaxation.
Outing to Paloni’s Italian Restaurant – October 3rd. Residents will enjoy delicious pasta and time together.
Halloween Trick-or-Treat Night – October 25th. Doors open at 6:30 pm for candy, costumes, and family fun.
Pumpkin Week – Leading up to Halloween, residents will carve, paint, and decorate pumpkins to display throughout the community.
Halloween Celebration – October 31st. A Costume Contest combined with our monthly Birthday Party and Bingo makes this a can’t-miss day of fun and festivities!

No matter which community you call home, October is filled with laughter, creativity, and connection. Thank you to our residents, families, and staff for making this season so special — we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
