February is here and we’re feeling the love! ❤️
As we dive into the month of love, what better way to celebrate than to share love stories from our very own residents? We’re excited to shine a spotlight on the wonderful couples that make our communities so special. Get ready to hear some heartwarming stories that will make your whole day!
Russ and Lois got married shortly after Lois graduated. They have been married for 68 years and have 3 daughters. Russ was a hardworking plumber until he retired, and Lois was an LPN. They enjoyed travelling before moving to assisted living. They both enjoy reading, walking and visiting with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. (Fun fact, their daughter is the activity director at Jerseyville Villas of Holly Brook!)
Lane and Judy have been married for 67 years. Judy says lane was a excellent father, husband and provider. Layne says judy has the kindest heart and loves everyone. Lane and Judy say keeping their marriage alive by always being considerate of each others feelings. They’ve been by eachother for the great times, the good times and even so the hardest times. With that they have loved eachother through it all.
When Sandy first arrived, she mostly kept to herself, spending her mornings in her room watching her minister’s program. One day, she decided to venture out for exercise class. It just happened to be a day when Don was leading the exercise, and Sandy was instantly taken by his bright blue eyes. Don laughs when he tells the story—he always thought his eyes were hazel, but since meeting Sandy, they’ve been blue ever since.
The two quickly formed a connection that blossomed into love. They were married in February 2023 and will be celebrating their three-year anniversary next month.
Ida stated that when they were young, they happened to run into each other and fell in love. Spent 75 plus good years together.
They met at a party after the Ohio state football game, during their college years in Columbus, OH. They soon knew that they wanted to spend their lives together, which took them to LA, Ecuador, Forrest, Il and Bloomington. In 2023, they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
As we celebrate the meaningful moments within our communities, we’re reminded that purpose plays a vital role in well-being at every stage of life.
